Connecting Members to Lawmakers

2011 Legislative Session Agenda and Member Lobby Efforts

Tolland Paras and Town Workers at BG FRCParaprofessional and Council 760 Members Working in Tolland Joined Area Lawmakers to Oppose Governor Rell's Educations Cuts in 2009
In 2009 and 2010, our members working for the State and many more in local cities, towns, and school districts negotiated cost savings and job security agreements. But if we don't fix the big problems with Connecticut's budget, public service workers at all levels will be back in the same place in 2011.

Our Union's Legislative Action Committee (LAC) has prepared a priority list of initiatives to advocate at the General Assembly in 2011. It's important to focus our energies and attention on the issues that really matter to our members, our families, and the people we serve.

We will be organizing members to take our issues direct to our elected representatives at the Capitol in Hartford for "Labor Lobby Days" throughout the session, which convenes on January 5. We will post details here and at the "Events Calendar" as they are scheduled, and provide materials, training, and transportation to make getting involved easier.
