In 2009, members of the unions in the State Employees Bargaining Agent Coalition (SEBAC) launched the "In This Together, Connecticut" campaign. The purpose was to take charge of our future and stand up for the people we serve. It was also designed to show state taxpayers, small business owners, and elected officials that we are not just part of the solution; we're leading the path forward to a better future.

That year, Union leaders worked with representatives of former Governor M. Jodi Rell's administration to help Connecticut get through the recession. We reached an agreement that empowered state workers to be a part of preserving public services during these difficult times.

In 2010 we put that the campaign to work collecting "win-win" proposals for producing taxpayer savings without taking money out of the pockets of the middle-class families we represent. While the Rell Administration rejected our ideas from the "front lines," members' recommendations were the foundation of the agreement reached with Governor Dannel P. Malloy in 2011.

We are focused now on the new process we created by ratifying the SEBAC 2011 agreement for implementing our members' ideas for transforming state government.
